The Relationship between Perfectionism and Counselor`s Developmental Level of the Playtherapist

Abstract

|
This study is to investigate the relationship between the perfectionism and counselor¡¯s developmental level of playtherapist. The subjects on this study were 98 play therapist. For each research question, t-test and two-way ANOVA were used.The result of this study is as follows: First, there were some differences in the counseling skills & techniques, case conceptualization, awareness, counseling plans and all counselor¡¯s developmental level according to whether possessed qualification or not. And there were differences in both of whole counselor¡¯s developmental level and sub-factors according to career and individual supervised experience. Second, there were some differences in the counseling skills & techniques, case awareness and whole counselor¡¯s developmental level according to other-oriented perfectionism in perfectionism. And there were differences in the counseling skills & techniques, humanistic and ethical attitudes and whole counselor¡¯s developmental level according to socially prescribed perfectionism in perfectionism. Third, as a result of an interaction of palytherapist¡¯s career and other-oriented perfectionism, a playtherapist with much career and higher other-oriented perfectionism showed high awareness level. Fourth, as a result of an interaction of playtherapist¡¯s whether possessed qualification or not and socially prescribed perfectionism, a playtherapist with possessed qualification and lower socially prescribed perfectionism showed a ply therapist makes counseling plans.
